Senior Site Construction Manager

Swift Current Energy, a renewable energy project developer and owner (the “Company”) is seeking a Sr. Site Construction Manager reporting to the Director of Project Management. The Company has primary offices in Boston and Houston.

The Company develops, builds, and operates wind, solar, and energy storage projects and has a need for a position to provide the site management functions related to supporting project development, pre-construction, and execution of construction projects. The Sr. Site Manager works collaboratively with Construction management to support construction due diligence, including constructability reviews, risk analyses, developing project schedules, reviewing budgets & capex estimates, and analyses of EPC RFP’s, in support of construction projects. The Site Manager will broadly serve as the overall point of contact and Swift Current Energy Site representative. This individual will provide tactical leadership for construction, assist in the development of strategic project objectives and provides direction for projects from late-stage development through the final construction phase; assist in the execution of construction contracts and be responsible for executing projects on time and within budget. The Sr. Site Construction Manager shall ensure that safety, quality, cost, environmental, landowner, and legal requirements are properly addressed to support the project execution objectives.

Sr. Site Construction Manager will perform the following duties:

  • Support the Pre-Construction Department by actively participating in the contracting RFP process for assigned projects through contract execution
  • Participate in a formal turnover and acceptance of the project from Pre-Construction to Construction execution and turnover to Asset Management
  • Works to support, develop, and implement a project execution plan that is formally communicated to all project stakeholders
  • Understand the implications of variance technical options and can guide engineering designs to achieve the best solution for each situation
  • Support the balance-of-plant process, preparation bid documents, and the Request for Proposal process, and assists with the negotiation of construction contracts
  • Ensure the projects are adequately staffed, trained, and standard construction toolbox policies, procedures, and programs are adhered to in order to assure all project communications, issues, change orders, and quality items are well documented
  • Provide leadership during project construction activities, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, cost, environmental, landowner, and other project requirements are met or exceeded
  • Fully understand and manage all aspects of project contracts (EPC, BOP, TSA & PSA) and holds the contractors and suppliers accountable to the requirements set forth in the contracts ensure projects are completed on time and under budget
  • Develop key personnel for leadership roles and pushes employee decision making down to the appropriate level. Institutes a culture of ownership and accountability by giving employees the training necessary to feel empowered to make decisions and hold them accountable to do so
  • Consolidate and analyze budgets, costs, forecasts, and utilization against established financial goals
  • Ensure the execution of work in accordance with contracts and policies
  • Assist in planning and hiring of competent field staff in order to ensure adequate resources are in place for effective and timely execution of committed projects
  • Provide supervision, guidance, and mentorship to assigned staff at all levels
  • Support, and solicits input from, staff at all levels of the organization
  • Establish effective and supportive relationships with colleagues
  • Reinforce a team approach throughout the enterprise, both on projects and internal initiatives
  • Effectively communicate relevant information to superiors
  • Additional duties as required

Education, Experience, and Skill Set:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Technology, Business; or equivalent years of experience in construction, project planning and execution of large utility-scale, power plant projects.
  • 10+ years in the renewable energy sector or industrial construction or capital project management
  • Advanced knowledge of construction management and constructing methods for large projects, contract management, procurement, and supply chain management, environmental and building permitting, and transportation logistics
  • Ability to be self-motivated and perform job tasks with little direction and minimal supervision
  • Strong organization skills and ability to multitask
  • Competency in analytical problem solving, effective communication, customer/partner relationships, and technology expertise.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft products, word, project, excel, Bluebeam, GIS tools/software, AutoCAD, drawing interpretation and other discipline-relevant software
  • Works well under pressure and on a deadline, enjoys working with a variety of people.


  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and possession of a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work around low, medium, and high voltage equipment
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability and willingness to travel occasionally to other operational sites within the US as needed
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime on holidays and weekends and to work on short notice as needed due to on-call scheduling
  • Ability and willingness to respond to site emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as needed
  • Ability to quickly understand the basics of a variety of subjects relating to wind energy, including wind studies, environmental and cultural studies, transmission issues, public relations, public policy, sales, and civil and electrical engineering
