Our Story

Founded in 2016, Swift Current Energy develops, constructs, owns and operates highly competitive wind and solar energy projects in North America. Our management team has commercialized approximately 10 gigawatts of clean energy projects and brings more than 150 years of collective experience investing in, developing, constructing and operating clean energy projects across the country.

Swift Current Energy is not your typical renewable energy development company. We are owners and financiers in the projects we develop and are therefore uniquely suited to be a long-standing, trusted partner. We are supported by shareholders who share our mission of advancing the clean energy transition. We take a conservative, careful approach every step of the way in order to responsibly develop, own, and operate new renewable energy projects.

We Bring In-House Expertise to Each Stage of the Project Lifecycle

Swift Current Energy is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts and has offices in Illinois, Maine, Montana and Texas. We have a best-in-class team with in-house experts across all stages of the project lifecycle, ranging from siting, design, interconnection, procurement, power marketing, and financing, all the way through to construction, operation and asset management.

Development

Our development team brings expertise in site selection, land acquisition, resource analysis, interconnection, permitting, environmental analysis, local sitting matters, community outreach, and project design/engineering. Our team has particular expertise and success developing projects in jurisdictions with complex regulatory environments and geographies with difficult siting challenges. Members of our development team have collectively developed over 85 wind and solar projects throughout their careers.

Origination

Our origination team pioneered the early corporate renewable energy purchasing programs and continues to have deep market knowledge and broad experience with an array of offtakers and contract structures, including utility and corporate PPAs, bank hedges, and revenue swaps. Swift Current Energy is laser focused on developing projects in markets that allow maximum flexibility for buyers to procure clean, reliable, homegrown energy for years to come.

Finance

With our finance team’s proven track record and direct involvement in various innovative financing activities for more than two decades, we have been able to cultivate relationships with leading tax equity financiers, debt providers, and top sponsor equity partners.

Construction Management

Our construction management team has strong relationships with leading turbine, panel, and BOP providers and is known for early and frequent engagement with EPC providers through the development phase to ensure optimal plant design. With extensive experience negotiating equipment supply and construction contracts, members of our construction management team have collectively overseen the construction of dozens of energy projects throughout their careers.

Operations & Asset Management

We have extensive asset management experience and the ability to structure and oversee full-wrap O&M contracts. Our operations and asset management teams have collectively operated and managed numerous power generation projects throughout their careers.
